PHILADELPHIA—(BUSINESS WIRE)—June 26, 2008— Harmonic Inc. (NASDAQ:HLIT) today announced that its Direct-to-Edge cable IPTV solution, MediaPrism on-demand content preparation software, and PWRLink 1310 nm DWDM transmitters have earned 4-star ratings in Broadband Gear Reports (BGR) 2008 Diamond Technology Reviews. According to BGR, a 4-star rating indicates excellent products with technical features and performance that provide clear and substantial benefits. Harmonics DiviCom® Ion encoder earned a score of 3.5 diamonds, also considered outstanding. In last years ranking, Harmonics DiviCom Electra® 7000 high definition MPEG-4 AVC encoder received a perfect 5-diamond score, the first and only product to have ever received a top rating since the introduction of Diamond Technology Reviews in 2005.

"The high scores earned by Harmonic's HFC and digital video products this year reflect a very positive opinion from our panel of independent industry experts," said Laura Hamilton, Vice President and Editor-in-Chief, Broadband Gear Report. Harmonics cable IPTV solution is particularly notable, as it enables operators to leverage their existing DOCSIS and digital video infrastructure to deliver superior, IP-based video service at low bit-rates. In addition to Harmonics digital video products, the panel was also impressed with the companys PWRLink 1310 DWDM transmitter, which provides cable operators a much needed solution to increase bandwidth efficiency using the existing cable plant.

According to Nimrod Ben-Natan, Vice President of Product Marketing, Solutions and Strategy for Harmonic Inc., Diamond Technology Reviews consistent recognition of Harmonics technology leadership across the video delivery supply chain reflects the breadth and depth of our product line, as well as Harmonics unique ability to bring forth major technology advancements that enhance video delivery to any device for broadcast or on-demand viewing. We are honored that BGRs panel of industry experts continues to recognize our innovation and market leadership and we remain firmly committed to providing our global customer base with the technologies they need to remain at the forefront of digital video delivery.

Harmonics PWRLink 1310 DWDM transmitter enables significantly more efficient use of existing fiber, thereby reducing the need for cable operators to lay additional fiber. The MediaPrism software suite provides real-time and offline content preparation of on-demand video delivery. DiviCom Ion encoders offer a high quality and integrated compression solution for delivering more digital video services while minimizing capital and operating expenses.

This years panel of judges included industry and engineering experts from Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications, Suddenlink, Bresnan, KnowledgeLink Inc., and Sunflower Broadband.

Harmonics highly innovative IP-based cable solutions will be on display at Harmonics booth #1753 at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, taking place in Philadelphia from June 2427.
